About Me

I am Ian Hamilton, a biochemical engineer by training with more than 5 years research and engineering experience in experimental molecular biology and computational polymer physics. I am building a career in engineering and quantitative biological research, and am especially interested in multidisciplinary projects involving metabolic engineering, biochemical engineering, systems or process engineering, synthetic biology, or biophysics. I have worked before on biofuels development, pyrolysis, and molecular simulations, and my experience includes work in laboratory, engineering design, and software development roles. My varied skillset gives me a unique perspective in each setting, and insight into how these roles must communicate in order to work together effectively.

Presently, I am acting as a research consultant for a team developing surface-functionalized quantum dots for biomolecule detection, but am seeking a full time research or engineering position in the United States. First and foremost, regardless of topic, I am looking forward to working on interesting problems in science or engineering.
